Roseburg, OR (Vocus) May 19, 2010. ”Jamais vu” is the feeling that what one has done much of his life is foreign. And that’s exactly how author Susan Kay feels about her being a Christian most of her life and her being a Christian “leader” for the past thirty-seven years. Now, she shares her innermost thoughts and sentiments in her newly released book, Jamais vu, which is her compilation of journal entries, beginning in 2008, that describes how her Christianity was handed to her, how she wore it, and what brought her to the place where she decided to take it off and “go naked.”
“Jamais vu” is a portrayal of the author’s escape from “Christiandom” and the fundamental beliefs that abused her for fifty-four years. Though it was written like a journal, the reader will find it to have parts that might actually be termed “metaphysical” in nature and delves deeply into the underbelly of her self-destructive beliefs. The things she experienced are very real to her and became the catalyst for the honesty needed to break free from the theological crustaceans she was encased in.
The author doesn’t mean this to be a self-help book. The way she processed her release would probably work for no one but her, but she has decided to share her experience in the hope that those who find themselves in a similar situation will muster the courage to forge their own path out of whatever holds them back.
“My journey is by no means over or complete; therefore, I submit Jamais vu, not as a complete telling, but as a snippet of a larger, unfinished story – the story of me,” declares the author.
About the Author. Susan Kay describes herself as a post middle-aged woman with a slow metabolism, a grandmother type who rides a Harley. She lives with her husband in a small town in Oregon, where she grew up in a time when lumberjacks roamed freely and the smell of sawdust was as familiar as the rain. She likes to garden and paint—but her love, of course, is writing.
